07 July. In the case of Shishkin v Russia the Court found a violation of Article 3 in relation to the complainant who had been tortured in police custody in Lipetsk in January 2001. The Court ruled that the man had been tortured and that the authorities had failed to investigate the complaint effectively.

The Court also found violations under Article 6 (1) and 6 (3c) owing to the fact that evidence had been obtained under duress by the police and the complainant had been denied access to a lawyer.
