This document was prepared by the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) within the framework of the Regional Seminar of the CTI on the "Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Torture in Latin America and the Caribbean" held in Santiago, Chile, in April 2017. It provides a structured overview of legislation and institutional frameworks regarding the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment of 31 States. The research covers 14 Caribbean States, and 17 Latin American States with different legal systems (civil and common law).
