National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia Act (Amended on 23 January 2020)
Mongolia ratified the OPCAT on the 12th of February 2015, and the Mongolian National Human Rights Commission was recognized as a potential NPM.
The SPT conducted its first country visit to Mongolia from 11-20 September 2017. The SPT urged Mongolia to establish the NPM as soon as possible. The SPT report of the visit is confidential.
On 23 January 2020, the Law of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia was revised by the Parliament and came into effect from 3rd March 2020. This newly enacted law establishes a National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) under the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and appoints one of its Commissioners to be in charge of the NPM.
The SPT member who is the SPT Focal Point for Mongolia is available here.
