The Corrections Commission (Vollzugskommission) was established by the government of Liechtenstein in December 2007 and started functioning in early 2008. The Commission was established in the context of the revision of the Enforcement of Sentences Act (article 17). The Corrections Commission has two mandates:
- It works as a correction commission according to the Enforcement of Sentences Act, which foresees visits to penal institutions.
- It also assumes the National Preventive Mechanism mandate which implies the monitoring of all places of deprivation of liberty according to the OPCAT.
