Ombuds Institution (29)

Ombuds institutions are oversight bodies, usually headed by a single person. Most are complaints-handling bodies and they have traditionally focused on maladministration. However, many ombuds institutions are now accredited as National Human Rights Institutions and have a broader mandate to pro¬mote and protect human rights alongside their traditional complaints-handling role.
