OPCAT Awareness Workshop, Jogjakarta, Indonesia
The APT is organising an OPCAT Awareness Workshop for 11 of the Ombudsman’s regional offices in order to increase awareness and understanding of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture (OPCAT) and its relevance and benefits to the work of the Ombudsman.
The 11-12 February workshop will be attended by over 20 participants, as well as the resource persons from Komnas Perempuan (the Women Commission), Komnas Perlindungan Anak (the Children Commission) and LPSK (the Victim and Witness Protection Agency)
On the margins of the workshop, the APT will also organise a meeting with Indonesia’s Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Human Rights Commission, as well as a session with local civil society organisations working on issues relevant to torture and ill-treatment. Both events will be held in Jakarta on 8 February 2019.
