A new study on the follow-up to NPM recommendations, carried out by APT expert staff members is now available.
The study was conducted in the framework of tailored support to the Armenian NPM under an EU-funded project on “Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Armenia” implemented by UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF.
Based on APT’s extensive expertise and on first-hand interviews with National Preventive Mechanisms (NPMs) worldwide, the study aims at providing a short and practical overview of effective NPM follow-up techniques and strategies. By analysing how these should influence the entire work cycle of NPMs, from its strategic planning to its cooperation with other stakeholders, the study emphasizes the need to actively mainstream follow-up in an NPM’s daily work.
The study was used to train the Armenian NPM staff and the wider ombuds institution on strategies and tools for follow-up to recommendations, in April 2019.
