Panama's National Preventive Mechanism moves towards implementation

At the beginning of 2017, Panama approved and published the law that creates the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture, as a New National Direction within the Ombudsperson’s Office. In April 2017, Ombudsman's staff, key representatives of authorities and civil society organizations who had participated in the law drafting process, and the APT, met to draw up a roadmap to make real the implementation of the Panamanian NPM.
