Experts meetings on National Preventive Mechanisms in Mexico

Purpose:
The meetings aim to define the structure of the national preventive mechanism, which must be established by Mexico by 22 June 2007 according to the OPCAT.  
Main Activities:
The meetings are part of a two-year consultation process consisting of seminars in different parts of the country (link to seminar conclusions attached). Background papers will be prepared on the following issues: the NPM and access to information, the NPM and individual complaints, proposals on the structure of the NPM in Mexico.
